Micas ares ground minerals coated with titanium dioxide for a shimmer effect. They are cosmetic grade, pigments with a coating providing brilliant, mass tone. They are safe to use in cosmetics. Can be used in lotions, lipsticks, bath products, MINERAL MAKEUP etc. When added to lotions & creams, they will give the skin colour and shimmer. Using micas in clear or translucent high glycerine soap base allows for deeper penetration.

Most of our mica based pearlescent pigments are calcined at high temperatures, up to 900oC (meaning they can be used in high temperature crafts).
Use between 0.3% to 1.0% for shimmer and mass tone. We use less than the recommended manufacturer suggetion: between 1/4-1/2 teaspoon per pound of soap and obtain excellent results.
Can be used in opaque base but luster (pearlescence is diminished).
Depending on the effect you are looking for:
* A small amount of 1/4 teaspoon is a fine pearlescent look,
* Using 1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon has a nice shimmer and sparkle.
Adding a drop of complimentary liquid dye enhances the colour and effect of the sparkle. Have Fun!
